Nintendo(®) (Kyoto, Japan) “Wii™ Sports Boxing” (“Wii Boxing”) and Xbox(®) (Microsoft, Redmond, WA) “Kinect(®) Sports Boxing” (“Kinect Boxing”) are both boxing simulation videogames that are available for two different active videogame (AVG) systems. Although these AVGs are similar, the style of gameplay required is different (i.e., upper body only versus total body movements) and may alter physical activity intensity and one’s preference for playing one game over the other.

The dual-task methodology, conducting two tasks simultaneously, may provide better validity than the traditional single-task tests in the environment that is closely related to real sport competitions. The purpose of this study is to determine the reliability and validity of a dual-task test that aims to measure the reaction time and skill proficiency in roundhouse kicks in elite and sub-elite taekwondo athletes.

Successful training involves structured overload but must avoid the combination of excessive overload and inadequate recovery. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of functional overreaching (FOR), nonfunctional overreaching (NFOR), and overtraining syndrome in elite female wrestlers during their normal training and competition schedules and to explore the utility of blood markers for the early detection of overreaching. Classification of FOR, NFOR, and overtraining syndrome was based on the European Congress of Sports Medicine position statement.
